Beth’s Dragon Con Recap: Part Two

If you missed part 1 of my recap you can go here to get caught up.

Thanos: the Hands of Fate. Get it? Well I thought it was funny

Now where were we? Oh yes, Thursday evening. I hung out with Rich near the ballroom where DCW would be happening, and had a few drinks to ready myself. I don’t know if it’s because everyone new about the new official start day or wrestling has just gotten that popular, but the line went on forever. We stood with the Hooligans in the overflow area for ages as the line just kept coming. It was starting to look like the room would fill before we could get in. That was certainly not going to happen to us so we started frantically messaging Schweck (who was inside reserving our rows of seats) to come out and get us. He finally did, but once inside it turned out that some interlopers had joined us. I didn’t mind sitting in the second row; until Noel and Rebeccah left for another event, and Rich moved to the first row. So there I was all alone with only a few total strangers in my row. I stuck it out for a little while. I did get to see Sting, Lita, and Ric Flair at least. After a bit I did miss having someone to talk to so I wandered off in search of something slightly more social. I ran into Dave, Ryan Cadaver, and Nicole at the Hilton and the dance party of foolishness began. “Hilton World” was a nice touch. I like that they went with a theme, and apparently so did some of the people wearing inflatable dinosaur costumes. I mean, it did fit with their whole thing after all. Once the dinos hit the floor the DJ decided to make it extra, and played “Walk the Dinosaur “. Look it up youngsters. Much drinking, dancing, and general silliness ensued. Things got even better once wrestling let out and a bunch more people joined the party. Continue reading “Beth’s Dragon Con Recap: Part Two”

Toy Review – One:12 Collective Punisher: Special Ops Edition from Mezco

DSC_0019

Welcome to the third or fourth version of the Needless Things toy review on the all-new, slightly different Needless Things!

The new motto around here is “keep it simple and stupid”…

No, wait – “keep it simple, stupid”.

I’ve been reviewing toys for over a decade now and quite frankly I’m sick of it.

Not sick of toys, certainly. And I’m not even sick of writing about toys. But I am sick of dissecting toys and figures to the degree of what I previously considered to be a proper toy review. There’s only so much you can say about different figures from the same lines.

I don’t know exactly what form these newer reviews will take, but there’s gonna be a lot less “this figure features 32 points of articulation, including blah, blah, blah…” and a lot more “this figure has plenty of joints”. Although I might get as specific as “why the crap did they bother with double-jointed knees when the hips and ankles barely move?”

We’ll see.

Beth’s Dragon Con Recap: Part One

Another year, another Dragon Con gone. I never feel like I’ve done anything, but I always feel like I’m Danny Glover by the time it’s over (as in “getting too old for this shit” if that wasn’t clear). I assume this recap will happen in two posts, but it always gets away from me. I begin with the clear intention of not boring you to death. Then I’ll start writing, and things will just get longer. “Remember how that was fun?” or “I have a vague memory of that other thing being an awesome time!”, and it goes on and on from there. It’s like a big cable knit sweater that someone just keeps knitting, and knitting, and knitting… Continue reading “Beth’s Dragon Con Recap: Part One”

WWE Hell in A Cell 2018 – 11 Thoughts

SPOILER WARNING – This post contains spoilers for WWE’s Hell in a Cell 2018.

The Needless Commentary Team gathered in the Phantom Zone last night for a group viewing of WWE’s September event, Hell in a Cell. Overall everyone seemed pretty darn satisfied with the matches. I was especially happy because it concluded around 10:45 rather than going up to or past 11 PM.

I had to be up at 3:30 this morning. The combination of little sleep and an early morning has left me with some thoughts to share about the show. Continue reading “WWE Hell in A Cell 2018 – 11 Thoughts”

Dragon Con 2018 – The Dragon Award Winners, and Other Stuff

Oooh, check out this fancy new site. I was able to upload images and lay out text without wanting to pull my hair out! I can’t wait to see if posting audio actually works on this thing. Although, I guess I’ll need to record some stuff before I can find out. But anyway, on with the show.

When my legs feel like jelly, my liver has turned in it’s notice, and the rest of my body is fighting off the germs of over 80,000 people it can only mean one thing. Another Dragon Con has ended. I’ve got recaps and all manner of fun stuff coming over the next few weeks. First though I thought I’d tell you about The Dragon Award winners.
